Abu Valayamkulam is a virtuoso in the fields of drama and performance art, hailing from the small town of Valayamkulam in Malappuram, Kerala. Today, he is widely recognized as a prominent casting director, accomplished actor, and one of the leading acting trainers behind several acclaimed performances in theatre and cinema.
With a career spanning over three decades, Abu began his artistic journey in theatre and has remained deeply rooted in the performing arts ever since. He played a pivotal role in mentoring both young and senior actors in children’s theatre, college productions, and amateur drama movements. Through his unique training methods and deep understanding of character performance, he helped numerous actors unlock their true potential and consistently guided drama teams toward award-winning recognition.
Expanding his creative horizons into cinema, Abu established himself as a highly respected casting director known for identifying the perfect artist for every role. More importantly, he became known for transforming performers beyond mere acting — enabling them to truly live their characters on screen.
Some of the notable projects associated with his work include Saudi Vellakka, which earned the Kerala State Film Award for Best Character Artist, and Pallotty, which won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Actor. His contribution to these projects as a casting director and acting mentor received widespread appreciation within the industry.
